About the event
Feel a tad overwhelmed by the fast pace of AI and its increasing role in education?
From personalising learning experiences and simplifying admin tasks, to unveiling new paths of exploration and discovery, AI is no longer merely knocking on the doors of our classrooms - it's taken a seat at a desk and is an active participant.
This shift isn't something we can afford to ignore or postpone. Much like the internet and digital technologies that came before it, AI is poised to redefine 'business as usual' in education. We must be ready to embrace this change, comprehend its potential, navigate its challenges, and ultimately, utilise AI to light up an even brighter future for our students.
Last month I spoke at a conference in Dublin, where I was likely one of the few attendees without a PhD to my name! The majority were from prestigious universities worldwide. One clear consensus emerged - being AI-literate isn't a distant ambition; it's an indispensable skill for the here and now. Whether you're a keen advocate or a cautious observer, understanding the intricacies, the benefits and drawbacks of AI is absolutely essential. I'm here to guide you, keeping you well-informed and ready to navigate the impact AI will undeniably have on education.
In this relaxed, jargon-free session, we'll discuss:
AI Unravelled - I'll demystify what AI is, how it works, and how it might transform teaching and learning.
Ethical Implications - I'll delve into the ethical issues associated with using AI in education, such as privacy, bias, and equity.
AI in the Classroom - Potential benefits, pitfalls, and implications of AI in education for student privacy and educational quality.
AI and Data - We'll dive into the world of big data, discussing how AI depends on it and consider data privacy and bias.
AI and Future Careers - How AI is changing the skill set required for future jobs and how we can prepare our students for this impending reality.
I will speak for approximately 30 minutes and then open up for questions for as long as necessary. If I can't answer them, I'll tap into some of the incredible minds I met in Dublin and email answers to you.
We're still sorting out social media regulations and phone use 16 years later! With the way GenAi is already being used we cannot afford to wait while the authorities figure out the policies, instead, we must take a proactive approach and start learning. In this complimentary, jargon-free webinar, we'll begin to unravel what this AI-centric future of education could look like, and how we can prepare for it.
