Unfiltered Insights - Understanding and Addressing Teens' Exposure to Adult-Rated Content

About the event

About the Event - STRICTLY 18+

As parents, one of our greatest concerns is the exposure of our children to pornography online. This concern is echoed globally by parents and schools, as evidenced by the numerous inquiries received by Safe on Social. Whether your child deliberately searched for porn, accidentally encountered it, or was shown by another child, it initiates a crucial dialogue.

Here's the major challenge - few address this issue from a young person's viewpoint. Until now…

Every week, reports come in about children as young as 7 gaining access to or inadvertently seeing adult content. Many parents, unsure of how to navigate these conversations, reach out to us for guidance. These incidences are not isolated to homes, with pornography discussions rippling through school corridors, seen during sleepovers on Omegle or shared in group chats.

But, what compels them to view it?

How does it shape their perceptions of sex and relationships?

And most importantly, how can we ensure their safety?

Join us for a webinar where host Kirra Pendergast, together with Safe on Social Youth team member Lenny (19yrs), will share first-hand insights on what's really happening with young people and their consumption of adult content.

Kirra and Lenny will engage in an open and honest conversation about:

  1. The effect of pornography on young people's understanding of sex, consent, and relationships.
  2. The potential emotional and psychological repercussions of overexposure.
  3. The normalisation of certain sex acts seen on pornography sites and its impact on young minds.
  4. The role of peer pressure in driving viewership.
  5. Measures we can take to ensure online safety and privacy.

Suggestions for more comprehensive sex education in schools and tips for parents on discussing it.

Don't miss this opportunity to understand the realities of pornography consumption amongst our youth and how we can safeguard them. Your ticket will also grant you access to a recorded version of the webinar and additional resources, even if you cannot attend the live session.
