Madeleine West
Specialist Facilitator Cyber Safety
With her wide-spread knowledge, lived experience and incredible ability to relate to young people, Madeleine's presentations aim to educate, inform and empower students, teachers, schools, parents and carers to take control of their online safety especially in the area of online predation. She helps to educate and work toward more positive and fulfilling online behaviours and experiences.
Madeleine first kicked off her career as an exuberant 5-year-old orphan in a stage production of Annie, but you might know her better as the beloved Dee Bliss on Neighbours.
Despite 35 years on stage and screen with an impressive filmography, Madeleine is best known for her some 45 television roles she has performed, including Danielle McGuire in Underbelly for which she won an AFI.
But of all the roles she has played, none have been more important than the role of mum to her 6 beautiful children. It is this incredible journey through parenthood that first sparked Madeleine's interest in and passion for cyber safety, cultivating in moving away from the screen and into the school halls and classrooms throughout Australia and across the globe.
Madeleine is also available to work with small groups of young people in the art of Theatresports where students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and embrace their funny. In these sessions, the topics of Cybersafety and Cyberbullying are woven into classes in a fun, engaging, and completely different way to learn about such important topics.
Outside of the classroom, Madeleine is an avid environmentalist, works frequently in the homeless sector as a qualified homelessness facilitator and advocating for asylum seeker rights as the principal ambassador for the ASRC. Madeleine is also a podcaster, author of a parenting biography and children’s series and writes weekly editorials across a variety of magazines and online publications.
Madeleine is available to speak at face to face sessions across Australia, the UK and Europe.
